Meet the Team

  • Jillian

    Owner & Lead Instructor

    A Jersey girl at heart, Jillian moved to DC after attending law school at the University of Miami to begin work as a trademark attorney at the USPTO. She quickly fell in love with The MVMNT Society, and found her first home as a fitness instructor, acquiring certifications in all of the class types offered at the studio. After three years of teaching at MVMNT, Jill and her husband Anthony moved to Miami, where she earned a certification in Mat Pilates and taught at Fuze House on Miami Beach.

    When presented with the opportunity to return to DC and purchase The MVMNT Society, Jillian and Anthony jumped at the opportunity to reunite with the team and clients who had become family. Knowing how special MVMNT is, they developed a vision to elevate the space and workouts to reinvigorate the brand and community.

    When she’s not lawyering or working in the studio with Anthony and Penny Lane, you can catch Jill on the mic teaching one of her favorite class formats - Mat Sculpt, Sweat, and Surge Strength. She especially enjoys curating playlists and designing classes with dynamic, flowing exercises that are sure to challenge and inspire :)

  • Mary

    Lead Instructor

    Mary is a native of Arizona with a passion for fitness. She began her fitness journey with a certification in barre in 2016. Since then, she has expanded to teaching a variety of formats. Her favorite class is bounce (and really any class that allows her to sing along to the music!) When she's not teaching, you can find her lacing up her running shoes, traveling, dreaming of Paris, and spending time with her two daughters and two playful poodles. Mary brings an upbeat and fun energy to every class, motivating her students to push their limits and embrace their inner strength.

  • Anna-Maria

    Lead Instructor

    Anna-Maria is originally from Queens, NY, moved to FL, but has now been a DMV girlie for the last 10+ years. 

    Anna-Maria loves aerial circus arts and going out Latin dancing. She loves any kind of movement, from working out to anything outdoors. Anna-Maria also loves to snuggle up with a book and her dogs. 

    She is certified in TRX, Barre, reformer Pilates, Sweat, Bounce, Surge Fit, Surge Strength, and Sculpt.

    In class, Anna-Maria brings the heat with workouts that make you sweat, beats that make you dance, and challenges that unleash your strongest self.  

    Her favorite class at MVMNT is Surge Fit.

  • Melissa S

    Lead Instructor

    Melissa S has been in the DMV fitness industry for over 10 years. Her fitness journey started after having her first child and quickly became a passion. Originally trained in teaching barre classes, Melissa has expanded her teaching portfolio with Strength Training, Bounce, Bosu, Pilates Stick, Step, Sculpt, Cardio Fitness and TRX. She is a Certified Personal Trainer, and her strengths include giving clients modifications through various journeys of life and increasing intensity to push clients out of their comfort zone.

  • Nawal

    Lead Instructor

    Nawal is an instructor from Chantilly, Virginia, who has been a part of the MVMNT team since 2021. With a Master’s degree in Kinesiology and experience as a personal trainer since 2019, Nawal brings a deep understanding of movement and fitness to every class. Clients can expect a fun, high-energy atmosphere where they’ll be motivated to push themselves in all of her classes. Nawal's favorite class at MVMNT is Sweat! No matter where you're at in your fitness journey, Nawal is here to help you crush your goals and have a great time doing it.

  • Katherine

    Lead Instructor

    Katherine is from Columbus, GA, and loves all things art, music, and history. She and her husband also love to travel, so they are often catching flights to new places.

    Katherine is certified to teach barre, mat sculpt, sculpt choreo, bounce, High Fitness, sweat and step. Her favorite class to teach is definitely sculpt choreo. In her classes, you can always expect high energy playlists with a Migos flare and fun choreography.

  • Kate

    Instructor

    Kate has been teaching Surge Fit and Bounce classes for over a year. A lifelong fitness enthusiast, Kate played travel soccer in high school and competed in sailing during her college years. When she’s not motivating others in the studio, she works as a political consultant and stays busy at home as a mother of two energetic boys. Her passion for health, movement, and community drives her commitment to helping others achieve their fitness goals.

  • Brightyn

    Instructor

    Brightyn started taking barre classes shortly after graduating college with a degree in Radiologic Technology, which is a fancy way of saying medical imaging. Barre was a class that came naturally to her as she grew up dancing. Shortly after graduating, she decided to pursue her certification and start teaching classes herself in 2020. 

    Brightyn moved to Virginia in 2022 and became a client at MVMNT; shortly after she joined the team of instructors in which her love for teaching barre expanded into multiple formats. Brightyn’s favorite class to teach and take is Bounce; there is nothing better than cardio on the trampoline mixed with some sculpting on the ground! She is currently expanding her knowledge of fitness by studying for her personal training certification (CPT). 

    Brightyn has lived in Virginia for almost 3 years. Although she was happy to escape the Minnesota winters, she does miss the summers on the lake. When not in the studio Brightyn is likely walking or cuddling her sweet dog Duke or spending time with friends and loved ones. 

  • Claire

    Instructor

    Claire’s love of group fitness began during the COVID summer of 2020 when she found High Fitness. After two years as a participant, she took the leap to certify as an instructor, moving to VA shortly thereafter and quickly joining the MVMNT team. Her love for teaching High Fitness stems from the notion that fitness should be fun, and working out isn’t something we have to do, but instead get to do for both our mental and physical health. 

    Her favorite class to teach will likely always be High Fitness (who doesn’t love singing along in a workout class?), but she enjoys pushing clients in SWEAT to grab heavier weights and push to do more than they think they’re capable of. Her favorite class to take at MVMNT is Mary’s STEP.

    Claire has lived in VA for just over three years, moving here from Utah, but is originally from Southern California. While she misses the proximity of hiking in Utah, one of her favorite parts of living on the east coast is how easy it is to explore new cities. When not at the studio, Claire is likely on a weekend trip or planning her next one, reading on her Kindle or most likely of all, online shopping.

  • Reagan

    Instructor

    Reagan is originally from Charlotte, NC, and is a proud Carolina girl. When she moved to Alexandria with her husband, she immediately joined the MVMNT community and soon became a MVMNT instructor. She is certified in Barre, High Fitness, and has experience in Sculpt, Step Aerobics, Bosu, and Bounce. As a former professional cheerleader, you can expect some fun choreography with creative toning moves in her classes that will keep your heart rate up and your energy even higher! In her free time, Reagan likes chatting while walking outdoors, reading fantasy books, organizing her closet, and traveling to Disney World. Her specialty is cooking, baking, and hosting themed parties for friends! Favorite class at MVMNT has to be High Fitness or Step - Great music + dancing with friends = chef's kiss!

  • Amanda

    Instructor

    Amanda was born and raised in Mesa, AZ. She met her husband, Nathan, at college in Utah, and has been in Virginia for 4 years now. She is East Coast obsessed! Amanda works full time in HR but outside of work and the studio, loves to run, eat out at yummy restaurants, and spend time with family/friends! 

    Amanda loves Surge Fit and Surge Strength because it brings a perfect mixture of cardio and weights that gets the heart rate up and allows us to feel a good burn for every muscle group. You can expect to leave every Surge class feeling accomplished and stronger than before! 

    It has been the best spreading the Surge love at MVMNT and seeing so many others love it too! If she’s not doing Surge, she loves to pop into Tuesday night High fitness with Claire :)

  • Sarah

    Instructor

    Sarah is originally from Connecticut but has lived in the D.C. area for 10+ years (that basically makes her a local right?). She joined the teaching team after nearly 8 years as a client. Her favorite classes include mat sculpt, Surge Strength, and step. Sarah loves motivating clients to be the strongest versions of themselves. Outside of the studio she loves spending time with her husband and two golden retrievers, Brady and Lane. If you're a Swiftie or a Bravoholic, Sarah's always ready to talk shop. 

  • Melissa M

    Lead Instructor

    Melissa M fell in love with group fitness after taking her first barre class many years ago. That love of group fitness expanded into teaching barre and beyond to Pilates, Bosu, and step. She’s a fitness fanatic and also enjoys endurance cardio in the form of running and cycling. She’s certified in barre and Pilates. 

  • Dillon

    Instructor

    Dillon comes from New Jersey but attended college at Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!), which brought her down to the Northern VA area post-graduation.  She grew up competitively dancing through college, which is where her love for fitness and movement began.  Dillon is certified in both barre and Pilates and has been instructing group fitness for over 3 years now.  In her classes, you can count on high-energy, motivating, and challenging exercises targeting every muscle group.  Her goal in every class is for clients to walk out a stronger version of themselves.  When not on the mic, she loves spending time with her family, friends, & pup Gracie, watching all things Bravo, or traveling to different places.  Join Dillon in her favorite class, Barre, every Tuesday at 7 & 8 AM!

    Instructor

    India teaches client-centered classes focused on delivering maximum results in every session. With a passion for movement and a holistic approach to the body, India's classes are fun, motivating, and inspired by her teaching background in dance fitness, reformer Pilates, and HIIT group fitness classes. If you enjoy props, variety, and sweat, India's classes are tailored-made for you. Look for India's Bounce, Mat Pilates, Step, and Sweat classes to achieve a killer burn while having a great time. 

  • Madison

    Instructor

    Madison is an intuitive life coach and meditation guide passionate about blending mindfulness, release, and breathwork into every class she teaches. Her teaching style isn’t just about the physical workout, it’s about creating a space to let go of stress, embrace the present moment, and tap into your inner calm. With her father in the Navy, she’s lived in 9 places and currently lives in Alexandria with her husband and baby boy. She loves long walks, nature, sunshine, coffee shops, traveling, cooking and listening to podcasts. Her fav classes at MVMNT are sculpt, step and high fitness.
